Do you own a multi-unit building and want to install charging stations for your tenants’ electric vehicles? Financial assistance is available for the purchase, lease and installation of 240-volt charging stations for multi-unit buildings. This reimbursement can be up to $5,000 per station.
Acquisition and installation
Financial assistance for the acquisition and installation of a multi-dwelling charging station is the lesser of
50% of eligible expenses; or
5,000 per charging station; or
5,000 per connector for charging stations equipped with one or more connectors, allowing the simultaneous charging of as many electric vehicles.
Rental and installation of a charging station
The financial assistance for the rental and installation of a multi-dwelling charging station is :
500 per wireless charging station; or
500 per connector for charging stations equipped with one or more connectors, allowing the simultaneous charging of as many electric vehicles; and
50% of the eligible expenses are related to the installation of a charging station.
The total financial assistance cannot exceed $5,000 per wireless charging station or connector.
If the charging station is leased, the applicant will be required to provide a lease agreement demonstrating that the applicant meets the program’s other eligibility requirements, including the requirement to maintain the charging station in service for at least three years.
Here are the conditions for the grant for the installation of a charging station in a multi-unit building:
Only one charging station can be funded per vehicle for a single applicant and address. However, if the car changes ownership, the new owner will, in turn, be eligible for reimbursement for the installation of a charging station at a different address.
For other types of applicants, who do not own an electric vehicle, but own or manage a multi-unit building, the maximum amount of financial assistance awarded per building per fiscal year is set at:
5-9 units – $10,000
10-19 units – $20,000
20 + units – $25,000
For the Quebec government, a fiscal year begins on April 1 and ends on March 31 of the following year. The date of receipt of the claim determines the fiscal year related to it.
